Jean-Marie Bruey, Ph.D., is a scientist and global R&D leader with more than two decades of experience driving discovery, translational medicine, and precision-medicine innovation across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and diagnostics. As Senior Vice President of Translational Medicine and Research at Gossamer Bio, he leads discovery research, translational bioinformatics, biomarker operations, and clinical translation. His organization integrates biology, data science, and clinical insight to accelerate the company’s pipeline and enable precision-medicine strategies from early discovery through late-stage development.

Jean-Marie has held consecutive executive leadership positions at Bristol Myers Squibb, Genentech/Roche, Halozyme Therapeutics, bioMérieux, and Quest Diagnostics. At Bristol Myers Squibb, he directed translational and biomarker strategies for a broad oncology portfolio, contributing to the development of Opdivo®, Yervoy®, and Opdualag®. At Genentech/Roche, he led companion and complementary diagnostic programs supporting Tecentriq® and other oncology assets.

Recognized for building high-performing, cross-functional scientific teams, Jean-Marie brings a strategic vision grounded in scientific rigor, operational excellence, and patient benefit. His leadership has advanced biomarker-driven development and companion diagnostics that bridge discovery, development, and commercialization.

He has authored more than 30 scientific publications and patents and holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Burgundy and INSERM in France.
